Nestled by the Seto Inland Sea to the south and the Chugoku Mountains to the north, the Sakurao Distillery is located in the city of Hatsukaichi.The distillery incorporates ancestral Japanese craft with modern production techniques to produce Sakurao single malt whisky. This exceptional geographic location accelerates the ageing process: the distillery is enveloped by the breeze from the sea and the crisp, cooler air from the surrounding mountains. After being aged in Bourbon barrels, this limited release is finished 18 months in Sauternes wine casks. This smooth and fruity whisky reveals delicious notes of apricot, apple and pear, enveloped in a long lasting honey flavor.
SAKURAO DISTILLERY was founded in Sakurao, directly facing the famous Miyajima World Heritage Site in the heart of Hatsukaichi City in Hiroshima.
It is here that we set out to create our own single malt whisky.
