Mars Malt Le Papillon Miyamashirocho
The “Mars Malt Le Papillon” series uses Japanese butterflies as motifs to represent the natural environment related to whisky maturation.
The theme of the third series is the “Reverdin's White Butterfly,” which inhabits some parts of the Chubu mountainous region. The image of this lovely butterfly, which has beautiful white wings and is also known as the “fairy of the mountains,” was selected from a barrel of non-petitated, new American white oak barrels. This single cask whiskey is a gem of a single cask whiskey, bottled at natural cask strength and non-chill filtered, with a focus on barrel-aged flavor from the original malt liquor distilled at the Mars Shinshu Distillery in 2014.
“In July 2016, a white butterfly appeared softly on the road leading from Mt. Yunomaru in Nagano Prefecture to the old Kazawa Hot Springs. It was an alpine butterfly, the Reverdin's White. Her translucent wings shone well against the blue sky. When she got tired of sucking nectar in the Japanese honeysuckle, she disappeared into the meadow on a gentle breeze. The butterfly, with its beautiful white wings, is also known as the “fairy of the deep mountains.
