The “Mars Malt Le Papillon” series is a series that uses a butterfly motif from Japan to express the splendor of Japan's four seasons and its natural environment, which forms the environment in which whisky is matured.
The theme of this product is the peacock butterfly, a medium-sized butterfly that lives mainly in the mountains north of Nagano in Honshu and has a peacock pattern on its wing surface, which is the origin of its name. The barrel was carefully selected. This single cask whiskey is a gem of a single cask whiskey, bottled at natural cask strength and non-chill filtered from the original malt liquor distilled at the Mars Shinshu distillery in 2016.
“There are few flowers left on the plateau, the hollyhocks and kugaisou are already brown. The thistles have only a few faded blue flowers left. Suddenly, a bright red butterfly opens its wings. It is a peacock butterfly with a large four-eye pattern. The butterfly was eagerly sucking its nectar, as if to say good riddance to the late summer. I first saw this butterfly in the early grades of elementary school. My mother, who was in the backyard, pointed out a beautiful butterfly. It was a rare even-nested butterfly that flew from its habitat in the highlands to the plains far away. I shook the small net with excitement. I snapped the shutter on Mt. Irikasa, remembering the butterfly as it flew away into the blue sky.” This single malt whiskey was selected from a cask of the original distilled at the Shinshu distillery in 2016, and was inspired by the bright red and distinctive butterfly that I first encountered that day.
