Mars Malt Le Papillon Double Cask Himeshirocho

Mars Malt Le Papillon” is a series that expresses the splendor of Japan's seasonal climate and natural environment, which forms the environment in which whisky is matured, using butterflies that live in Japan as a motif.
The theme of this product is the “Hime-Shiro Butterfly,” which mainly inhabits low grasslands and is one of the smallest members of the white butterfly family. To evoke the image of a pretty white figure dancing in spring, two barrels, one with cherry wood for the mirror plate and the other aged in a bourbon barrel, were vatted.
This single malt whiskey is a gem of a single malt whiskey, bottled at natural cask strength and non-chill filtered from the malt whiskey distilled in 2015 at the Mars Komagatake Distillery (formerly known as the Mars Shinshu Distillery).

In May 2020, the meadow at the former site of the Nagano Winter Olympics was beautifully landscaped, with many clay brushes peeking out. I saw a small white butterfly. It was a brown-headed white butterfly laying eggs on the shoots of a vine Fuji bakama. It is rare to see these butterflies these days, but here, two or three of them fluttered out from under our feet. In the distance, mountains with lingering snow and cherry blossoms in full bloom. I lost track of time as I chased the butterflies, which were blowing in the gentle breeze, fluttering like petals on the cherry blossoms.”
This single malt whiskey expresses a pretty white butterfly dancing in spring by vatting two barrels from the original distilled at the Shinshu distillery in 2015.
