This is the first of a series of rare single cask bottlings released for AF Trade Limited (China only). Two casks, each with a different flavor, were bottled as a single cask and released as a set of two bottles.
Master Blender Katsuyuki Tatsuzaki chose to pair two different casks from three-year-old heavily peated bourbon barrels, one citrusy (#1221) and the other salty (#1228). The #1228 offers a peaty, spicy flavor with a lingering tide and syrupy sweetness. Then enjoy a comparison with the citrusy #1221.
As with the Hong Kong edition, the ecological environment of the diverse and wonderful Kushiro Marshlands surrounding Atsugishi is the theme of each edition, and the first edition is labeled with a gorgeous black design based on the theme of the tancho crane in the Kushiro Marshlands.
This is one of only a handful of single cask items ever released from the Atsugishi distillery, and it is the first in a series of single casks that are only distributed overseas.
